The BTR (Arizona State
Board of Technical Registration) issues
certificates for, and oversees the practice of,
home inspectors. Under Arizona Certification, Title 32,
Chapter 1, enacted in 2002, the law requires at
least 80 hours of education. Completed educational requirements are
considered and approved by the BTR if the
inspector is licensed by the regulatory agency
in the home state of the post-secondary
education facility.
Additionally, you must pass
the NHIE (National Home Inspector Examination)
and show evidence of the successful completion
of at least 30 home inspections.
You also must comply with
one of the following:
Errors and Omissions Insurance in the amount of
$200,000.00 aggregate, with $100,000.00 per
individual occurrence.
OR
Be in
possession of a $25,000.00 bond or have
substantial proof of assets in that amount.
OR
Possess an alternate type
of financial assurance that is approved by the
BTR in the amount of $25,000.00.
The law states that either
your failure to obtain financial assurance, or
the loss of that financial assurance is grounds
to have your certificate revoked.
