In the state of Connecticut
Home Inspectors must be licensed per law,
Chapter 400F, enacted in 1999. Connecticut
licensing requirements are as follows:
You must either have a high
school diploma or equivalent (GED).
You must either have been a
Home Inspector Intern for at least one year and
have successfully completed 200 home inspections
for compensation
OR
You must have completed a
program with a minimum end product of a Home
Inspector Intern Permit and have performed 100
home inspections for compensation.
Additionally, you must pass
an oral, written, or electronic competency exam.
Then, you must pay the
$200.00 licensing fee
OR
the $100.00 Intern Permit
fee.
The licensing period is
every two (2) years and requires a minimum of 20
hours of CEC (Continuing Education Courses), at
least three (3) hours of which must be in
pertinent legislation.
