Kansas’ Governor Sebelius signed HB 2260 into
law on April 23, 2009. This law requires all
Home Inspectors in the state of Kansas to be
registered as of January 1, 2010
In order to register you must be in compliance
with the following:
You must be at least 18 years of age.
You must have a high school diploma or its
equivalent (GED).
You must submit and maintain proof of
Liability Insurance of at least $100,000.00.
You must also have proof of Errors & Omissions
Insurance, or similar fiscal responsibility, of
at least $10,000.00.
You must be a member in good standing in one
of the nationally recognized organizations for
Home Inspectors:
ASHI – American Society of Housing Inspectors
NAHI – National Association of Home Inspectors
NIBI – National Institute of Building Inspectors
The American Inspectors Society
Home Inspection Institute of America
You must pass a proctored written or
electronic test approved by the board, or have
been actively engaged as an inspector as defined
in K.S.A. 2008 Supp. 58-4502 and its emendments.
Have completed a classroom course of at least
80 hours on home inspections
Have been in business for two (2) years and to
have successfully completed 100 fee-paid
inspections
Once licensed, ALL Home Inspectors are required
to obtain a minimum of 16 hours of continuing
education (CE) each year.
