The Nevada Certification Laws, NRS 645D, 120 and
NAC 645D, 210, enacted in 1997 sets forth the
following provisions for becoming a licensed
Home Inspector in the state:
You must possess a High School Diploma or its
equivalent (GED)
You must furnish proof to the Real Estate
Division of the Department of Business and
Industry that you have successfully completed
not less than 40 hours of educational
instruction in related subjects.
OR
You must provide proof of equivalent
experience as a Home Inspector in the form of a
log, demonstrating your proficiency in Home
Inspections and produce copies of Home
Inspection Reports, performed for a fee, and in
accordance with the standards and requirements
defined in the statute and codes.
You must show proof of having passed a
National examination approved by the board and
administered by PSI, the testing contractor.
There is a $100.00 fee for taking this exam.
Additionally, you must submit proof of Errors
and Omissions Insurance and of General Liability
Insurance, both policies in the amount of
$100,000.00.
Continuing Education (CE) of at least 20 hours
is required every two (2) years and must include
three (3) hours of safety and two (2) hours of
law as approved by the Division.
