Oregon’s Home Inspection Certification Law, ORS
701.350.355, enacted in 1997, requires that Home
Inspectors of two or more household components
be certified by the Oregon Construction
Contractors Board (CCB).
Points are given for education and experience.
If being licensed by the CCB for the first time,
you must also have 16 hours on law and business
practices and pass a state test in addition to
the 20 points required in education and
experience. 10 points is the maximum number that
someone can receive for a Home Inspection
training course. Visit the website for more
information on how to obtain points.
Continuing Education (CE) is required for
renewal in the amount of 30 CE units for each 24
month period. One CEU is granted for each clock
hour of instruction on a combination of the
following topics: Home Inspection, report
writing, communication skills, business
practices, building codes, ethics, legal issues,
standards of practice and the CCB home inspector
study guide items.
