The Pennsylvania Trade Practice Act, Act 114 of
2000, Title 68, provides a standard definition
of the what a Home Inspection is and what a
national home inspection association is
comprised of. It further dictates that a Home
Inspector will conduct home inspections in
compliance with the standards of practice
determined by a professional home inspection
trade association, such as ASHI, American
Society of Home Inspectors, or NAHI, the
National Association of Home Inspectors. In
order to be licensed in the state of
Pennsylvania:
You must be a full member of a nationally
recognized Home Inspector organization that
requires you to perform at least 100 home
inspections to become a member.
You must pass an exam.
You must provide proof of an Errors and
Omissions Insurance Policy and General Liability
Insurance in the amount of at least $100,000.00
per occurrence and of at least $500,000.00
overall in the aggregate.
