Texas’ Licensure Law, Title 113A, Article 6573a,
Section 23, originally enacted in 1991 was
amended in 2007 under the Fast Track Method by
the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC).
Educational requirements are:
328 hours of education approved by the
Commission
Experience requirements are:
An approved training course of at least 120
hours from an educator approved by the
Commission
OR
Training while accompanying a licensed Home
Inspector for at least 120 hours on Home
Inspections and related work that has been
documented by the licensed professional
OR
At least five (5) years of experience in a
field directly related to Home Inspections, such
as installing, maintaining, servicing or
repairing mechanical, electrical, and structural
systems pertaining to real property.
All Home Inspectors must have proof of General
Liability Insurance in the amount of at least
$100,000.00 per occurrence.
The Continuing Education (CE) requirement is 16
hours of courses approved by the Commission, per
year.
ALL ONLINE AND CORRESPONDENCE COURSES REQUIRE A
PROCTORED FINAL EXAM.
