Arizona State University

Arizona State University's goal is to become a world-class university in a multi-campus setting. Its mission is to provide outstanding programs in instruction, research, and creative activity, to promote and support economic development, and to provide service appropriate for the nation, the state of Arizona, and the state's major metropolitan area.

To fulfill its mission, ASU places special emphasis on the core disciplines and offers a full range of degree programs-baccalaureate through doctorate, recognizing that it must offer quality programs at all degree levels in a broad range of fundamental fields of inquiry. ASU will continue to dedicate itself to superior instruction; to excellent student performance; to original research, creative endeavor, and scholarly achievement; and to outstanding public service and economic development activities. As a result of this dedication, ASU was named to Research Extensive (formerly Research I) status in 1994, recognizing ASU as a premier research institution.

The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree program teaches students to answer questions, solve problems and address contemporary social issues from multiple perspectives. Interdisciplinary students develop the intellectual tools needed to build bridges across academic disciplines and apply their skills, innovations and knowledge in various academic and practical settings. M.E. in Embedded Systems
Most embedded systems require a high degree of predictability and reliability, and involve tight interactions with their physical environment. They differ from computation-intensive applications as a result of their concurrent threads of control and time-dependent behavior, as well as a variety of system requirements that include size, power, cost, safety, security, and regulation. However, the task of developing such systems is much more challenging than general computer applications as multiple concurrent subsystems interact with real-time signals and produce a sequence of interdependent and timed control actions. Consequently, system design and software development of embedded systems have become significant obstacle in meeting the market demands for functionality, reliability, and ease of use while achieving rapid product release cycles.
