of theology and its practical

ministry. Courses will
articulate the competency

Additionally, nontraditional
students taking the courses for
general education requirement
(GER) credit will gain a basic
understanding of Catholic
theology.
For students who have already
met the minimum general
education requirements and who
have 86 transferable credits (21
in 300-400 level courses), the
program can be completed in two
years. Those who have not met
these requirements may take

Pre-Baccalaureate Certificate
in Ministry Formation
The Pre-Baccalaureate
Certificate in Ministry
Formation provides students with
an orientation to Catholic
ministry. Brescia offers ten
courses towards a Core I and
Core II Certificate in Ministry
Formation to assist those who
are volunteers in Catholic
parish ministry; those who wish
to apply the courses toward a
degree in pastoral ministry or
theology; and those who simply
desire to enrich their
understanding of faith and
ministry. Upon completion of
each core, students receive a
certificate acknowledging their
successful participation in
these foundational parts of the
ministry formation program.
The Certificate in Ministry
Formation online program
presents the concepts
foundational to the recently
approved National Certification
Standards and Competencies for
Parish Ministers and for Lay
Ecclesial Ministers. This
document was approved by the
Office of Certification and
Accreditation of the U. S.
Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Furthermore, since Brescia is an
accredited university, these
courses may be transferable to
other accredited private, state
and community colleges and
universities.
