With the increased pace of technological change as well as growing organizational complexities, ensuring that IT remains effective in enabling organizational success is a key leadership challenge. If the management of IT has been a critical success factor in the past, leading people to leverage the power of IT will be even more important to an organization's future success. The Master of Science in Leadership with a concentration in Information Technology degree will enhance professionals in leading organizational change and understanding the role of technology and its interface with business processes. Feedback from IT leaders from a number of diverse organizations assisted in shaping the degree. The MSLIT is a result of the combined efforts of Duquesne University's School of Leadership and Professional Advancement and the John F. Donahue Graduate School of Business. The John F. Donahue Graduate School of Business is included among the one-third of all Schools of Business that are accredited by the AACSB International. Through the collaboration of these two schools, students benefit by learning from experts in the fields of information technology and leadership. The comprehensive curriculum addresses information technology from an organizational and management perspective as well as application of analysis and design techniques to deliver technology and leadership in the business environment.

The Master of Science in Leadership with a concentration in Community Leadership was designed for the education of leaders who are committed to improving - indeed transforming - the quality of life in the community. Healthy communities require a vibrant blend of an involved and informed citizenry and the ongoing development of a multitude of local resources. Community-driven leadership is the intangible asset that combines these and other ingredients in creative and effective ways - to design and enact a desirable, sustainable future. Learn about organizational design and development; leading, motivating and empowering others; strengthening the overall societal impact of individuals and organizations; instilling excellence, not as an action, but as a habit; and
creating powerful community change toward a sustainable future. Current students include: nonprofit consultant, executive director, grants administrator, case manager, director of development, academic advisor, and
alumni director.

The Master of Science in Leadership with a concentration in Liberal Studies emphasizes the importance of integrity and social responsibility in leaders. This approach to leadership education focuses on the dimensions of human behavior and human nature as illuminated by some of the great thinkers of the past and present. The program emphasizes the self-assessment and development of skills that are crucial to the leader's role, as well as an examination of the world in which today's leaders will function. This program reflects the mission of Duquesne University to teach ethical leadership within this increasingly complex world. Courses include The Humanistic Perspective; Social, Political and Economic Issues; Conflict Resolution; and Valuing a Diverse Workforce. Upon completion of this degree, you will have developed a vision of leadership, the values to guide your decisions, and the skills and knowledge to translate your vision into reality.

Often a professional may have a certain specialization such as engineering, accounting or technology, but needs leadership skills in order to build their effectiveness in their organization and advance their career. Skills such as organizational communication, critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution are valuable for success in the workplace.

The Master of Science in Leadership degree is designed for those who want to develop their own leadership strengths so that they can enhance their own effectiveness and also develop leadership in those around them. Those seeking an additional specialization may choose from several concentration areas including community leadership, business ethics, global leadership and liberal studies.

In this interconnected world, there is a need for leaders with a breadth of understanding of global issues and systems, and the ability to critically assess the short-term and long-term implications that their decisions and actions have on other countries. Moreover, it is important that leaders of the world learn to work together collaboratively, overcoming cultural and other differences, for the betterment of the lives of all global citizens.

The Master of Science in Global Leadership program is designed to develop globally-conscious leaders - leaders who understand the impact that their actions and decisions have upon their own regions and nations, as well as upon other nations around the world. The curriculum focuses on several main areas including: skills for cross-cultural interaction, knowledge of critical global issues, and international leadership skills. Students in this program have the unique opportunity to study with students from other international universities.

Master of Science in Leadership - Professional Administration is designed for those who have assumed, or seek to assume, expanding responsibility for oversight of administrative processes, coordination, analysis, and presentation of information, and supervision of human and financial resources in support of the organization.

At the end of this program students will be able to: examine and employ administrative and analytic principles and concepts in making informed decisions to maintain and enhance organizational operations; use oral and written communication skills in creating, expressing and interpreting information and ideas including technical terminology and information; solve problems using critical thinking skills (analyze, synthesize, and evaluate) independently and in teams; understand tools, strategies, and systems used to plan, allocate, maintain and control the use of financial resources; know and understand the importance of professional ethics and legal responsibilities.
