Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Midwifery/ Women's Health Nurse Practitioner
Family Nurse Practitioners (FNPs) are clinical experts who implement a holistic approach that emphasizes both care and cure. They apply cutting-edge science and manage the health needs of patients in primary care settings. The focus of the FNP program is to provide the academic knowledge and clinical skills necessary for health promotion, disease prevention, assessment, and management of common acute and chronic illnesses. To maintain the integrity of our programs and ensure Nursing@Georgetown students benefit from carefully monitored clinical experiences designed to enhance their education and coursework, Georgetown University individually selects preceptors and clinical sites based upon each student's needs and location. Georgetown faculty members will make a concerted effort to identify a highly skilled preceptor in a facility that is convenient to your current location.
Currently we are only accepting students from the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, HI, MI, MS, MT, NM, NJ, OK, SC, SD, TX, UT, VA, and WI.
The Nurse Midwifery/Women's Health Nurse Practitioner program is for nurses who wish to care for the health and well-being of women. This area of nursing continues to grow. Nurse Midwives often specialize in prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care for women, but many also provide care for women throughout their lifespan. Becoming a Nurse Midwife takes focus and dedication, but the rewards are immeasurable each time you touch the lives of expecting mothers and share the experience of welcoming their babies into the world. Women's Health Nurse Practitioners can become leaders in a variety of settings and situations, including opportunities to fulfill roles as primary care providers for their female patients.
