The Master of Music in Music Education degree is the professional standard required in public school teaching. This degree program fulfills the advanced educational requirement beyond licensure in the State of Ohio. It also provides potential key career outcomes such as:

Teachers who wish to complete the Master of Music in Music Education program must first meet the following Kent State University requirements for admission, evidence of graduation in good standing from an accredited Bachelor of Music degree in music education program. A minimum music GPA of 3.0 and at least a 2.77 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) for overall college coursework; and current teaching licensure or teacher certification in at least one state.
