Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice
(degree completion)
The Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice
online degree is offered by the
Sociology/Criminal Justice Department for
nontraditional students who desire
preparation for work in the field of
criminal justice and related areas. The
program has a holistic approach with an
emphasis on problem solving and
communication skills.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative
Writing online course of study promotes the
aesthetic and intellectual practices of
creative writing.

The arts serve as a core component of the
academic, spiritual, and ethical life of an
individual. The arts help to humanize us. It
is in this spirit that the English and
Journalism Department at Midland Lutheran
College offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts of
Creative Writing. Drawing on various writing
workshops, our students will compile a
portfolio of creative writings: fiction,
poetry, dramatic monologue, and hybrid
genres.
Program Structure:
The Bachelor of Fine Arts of Creative
Writing includes 39 credit hours: 30 credit
hours in English listings and 9 additional
credit hours in art, music, theatre, and
journalism listings. One of the central aims
of the BFA in Creative Writing is to offer
an inter-disciplinary humanities course of
study-one which exposes our students to
diverse aesthetic approaches. We believe
that such an interdisciplinary approach will
encourage further study in diverse aesthetic
disciplines.
Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration
Midland's BSBA is a degree completion
program that provides you with the
opportunity to develop the knowledge and
skills necessary to build a successful
career as a business professional. With
personal instruction and guidance from
qualified faculty, you will find your class
experiences challenging, practical and
rewarding.
Our faculty offers you valuable insight into
the world of business based on their
experiences, and they will gladly assist you
in determining your course of study and
career orientation. The program is based in
the liberal arts, helping you strengthen
your ability to write, think, reason and
analyze.

Post Baccalaureate Certification in
Secondary Education
The Called to Teach: Secondary Teaching
Certificate is a licensure online program
designed for working adults who have a
bachelor's degree in a content area and
desire a secondary teaching certificate.
Make the most of your previously learned
content by combining it with the skills and
methods needed for a successful teaching
career. Our carefully designed schedule of
courses fully prepares students for the
demands of a teaching career.
Benefits: Students successfully completing
the program will be eligible to apply for an
initial Nebraska Teaching Certificate and
teach grades K-12 in physical education or
7-12 in the secondary teaching areas of art,
business, biology, chemistry, English,
foreign language (Spanish), history,
mathematics, natural science, and social
science.
Quality and Convenience: All teacher
education *courses are offered online in
eight-week sessions except for the
field-based experiences in schools. These
hands-on experiences provide opportunities
for students to practice teaching skills in
authentic settings.
*Depending on the previous coursework and
current content requirements, students may
have completed some of the required courses
or may need to take additional
content/endorsement courses.
RN-BSN Baccalaureate Experiential Nursing
Degree
The Baccalaureate Experiential Nursing
Degree (B.E.N.D.) is a program offered at
Midland Lutheran College which provides the
already licensed registered nurse with the
opportunity to receive credit for past
learning experiences, and get a BSN. The
B.E.N.D. student will be given the
opportunity to test out of general college
courses as well as specific nursing courses.
This program is accredited by the National
League for Nursing Accrediting Commission
and is approved by the Nebraska State Board
of Nursing. Graduates of the program are
eligible to complete the National Council
Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses
(NCLEX-RN) for state licensure as registered
nurses.

The professional online nursing courses will
prepare you for professional practice in
various settings, provide a great foundation
for graduate study in nursing, and promote
life-long learning and growth for our
students as individuals, professionals and
citizens. Completion of the online program
also equips you with an extensive amount of
clinical experience.

courses will be able to complete the BEND

Writing Certificate
The Writing Certificate offered online is
designed for those for whom writing is a key
component of their work life or for someone
who is interested in exploring a variety of
types of writing as a means of developing an
existent skill or simply as an avenue of
exploration.
Skills and Benefits:
The online courses in the Writing
Certificate represent different contexts for
writing in order to provide exposure to a
number of situations in which the writing
expectations vary. The intention is to give
the writer flexibility in expression.
Communication and specifically writing
skills are highly valued in all areas of
employment. Those who advance are most
frequently those with strong
communication/writing skills. It is a fact
that understanding style and the use of
words, which are language skills, are
significant in effecting desired results.
Thus, we feel the courses in our Writing
Certificate Program Online provide both
those who may have direct application for
these skills or those who wish to develop
them for personal enjoyment with the
experience and confidence which comes from
