What kind of computer scientists can I become

A very common position that is available at most companies is a System Analysts. You will work with the needs of the organization and help them solve their computer and technology problems. Computer scientists find new ways of developing existing and new computer systems. This is very advanced and this includes designing new hardware and software to increase the speed and accuracy of a computer. As a system analyst you will typically work with a specific division where you received your training. You might work on accounting systems and be employed by an accounting firm. Systems analysts generally work within a specified field related determined by the organization they work for.

Programming Analyst is becoming more and more needed as they deal with client server applications. The need today for all computer systems to talk to each other is a must. Systems analysts work hard to make sure that all computer networks in a business are compatible with each other.

I have a fulltime job but want an IT career

This is pretty common as most people that are wanting to change their careers already have full time positions. If you are currently in a position that isn’t related at all to computers then we suggest that you take an online course and first enroll in your basic courses to see if this is a field you would like to continue with. If you already are working in your field and you have some experience then you will more than likely get more out of your degree as you can apply what you are going to learn to real life experiences.

Do I need any type of certification to get a job in computer science?
It really depends on what you want out of your career. It is always a good idea to continue on with your education regardless but you need to consideration if having these certifications will make your more money or allow you to move up within the organization.

Many schools offer courses that will help you pass the certification tests of Cisco, Microsoft and Oracle. These tests are difficult but with the proper training can be obtained fairly quickly. The great thing about the certificates is that they really do make you stand out in a company if you are one of the only members in your department that possess such a certification.
