The CIS field emphasizes the use of computer systems to solve business problems. Graduates of the program can be expected to pursue careers as programmers, programmer/analysts, and systems analysts. Entrance Requirements for Bachelor of CIS degree program - An Associate of Business Administration in computer info systems (90 quarter hours) or approved equivalent from an accredited institution to include the courses listed below. (minimum GPA 2.0)

Computer Programming : Java Option | Associate Of Applied Science Degree
Students in this program acquire skills in programming and systems analysis and design based on the curriculum developed under the Sun/Java Academic Initiative. This program concentrates instruction with the Java programming language while also introducing the student to C++ and VisualBASIC programming concepts. The knowledge gained in this program provides students with the skill sets for employability in a variety of types of businesses and industries in positions such as programmers, developers, and systems analysts.

Do I need any type of certification to get a job in computer science?
It really depends on what you want out of your career. It is always a good idea to continue on with your education regardless but you need to consideration if having these certifications will make your more money or allow you to move up within the organization.  

Many schools offer courses that will help you pass the certification tests of Cisco, Microsoft and Oracle. These tests are difficult but with the proper training can be obtained fairly quickly. The great thing about the certificates is that they really do make you stand out in a company if you are one of the only members in your department that possess such a certification.
